IRENTE VIEW POINT TOUR

A well-known view point, 1500 meters above sea level, from where you can see the wide Maasai plains beyond the village of Mazinde, which is located almost 1000 meters below. Visit the Irente farm and cheese factory on the way home, and then savor a delectable supper of brown bread, cheese, juice, seasonal fruit jam, and quark.

Irente Viewpoint’s Location

Close to the town of Lushoto irente view point is snuggled adjacent to Irente View Cliff Lodge. For less than $4 USD, you can take a motorbike taxi from Lushoto Town to Irente Viewpoint, or you can book a nearby hotel. We recommend staying at Irente Farm Lodge where the distance to Irente Viewpoint is only two kilometers.

Irente Viewpoint’s entrance cost is 2,000 Tanzania Schillings, which is equal to $1 USD. The entry is free for guests of Irente View Cliff Lodge. There is a little cubicle where you can pay the charge, and the proceeds are being used to further the village’s growth.

KISASA WATERFALL TOUR

A few kilometers from the village of Lushoto sits the lovely waterfall known as Kisasa. Take a stroll through the countryside, lovely settings, and lovely routes through the villages and small towns to the Kisasa waterfall. The paths will include sections that run alongside rivers and streams that flow toward the fall. You can enjoy the time with a great view and the soothing sound of the falling water by walking down a steep hill near the waterfall. Take some photos, then retrace your steps to the hotel. The river flows throughout the year, although depending on the season, the water level changes. 

One of the most stunning waterfalls in Lushoto is the Kisasa waterfall, which is a few kilometers from the town of Lushoto and is surrounded by a magnificent, high rock. Take a stroll through the countryside, lovely settings, and lovely routes through the villages and small towns to the Kisasa waterfall.

MAGAMBA NATURE FOREST HIKING

5-6 hours 14 kilometers

From Lushoto, take a steep hike to the Magamba Rain Forest. Along the route, learn about the wasambaa tribe’s customs, culture, and indigenous herbs. Listen to the kingdom of Sambaa’s tales.

Explore the Magamba rain forest while observing the diverse wildlife, colorful birds, and vibrant butterflies. The Usambara akalat, Usambara weaver, Usambara nightjar, Usambara eagle owl, Fischer’s turaco, and the banded green sunbird can all be seen in the dense Magamba rain forest, which also has dramatic views, flowers, large trees, and chameleons as residents. Attempt to spot colobus monkeys, though this is not a guarantee.

 Visit a historical cave in the forest while you’re there; it’s thought to have been used during World War One. Ascend to Kigulu hakwewas summit, a summit 1840 meters above sea level in the center of the Magamba Forest, and take in the panorama of Lushoto and the Usambara highlands. Enjoy lunch while admiring the beautiful vista of Lushot town.

COFFEE TOUR IN USAMBARA

Learn how local coffee is grown, picked, dried, and roasted by going to Usambara Coffee Farms in Lushoto. Get the chance to see coffee farmers, sample freshly brewed coffee from Usambara’s neighborhood kitchens, and more!

The first hour of your local coffee tour will be spent walking from Lushoto Town to the Royal Village of Kwembago. This path passes through a vibrant environment with green hills and a wide range of flora and flowers…It goes without saying that you will travel past the fields where the coffee producers cultivate their crops.

You can learn more about the history of coffee in Usambara as well as the struggles and specialized expertise of local coffee producers in the home of one of the organization’s members. Watch and practice making coffee yourself, all the way from the harvesting to the roasting to the grinding to the brewing of your coffee!

After that, savor a traditional supper at a village family’s house before tasting freshly brewed Usambara coffee with the producer in person, right close to the field where it was grown! A leisurely stroll back to Lushoto-Town brings the excursion to a close.

NATURAL SWIMMING POOL AND NATURE FOREST WALK IN MKUZI VILLAGE.

Hike through the Gaegetal Valley all the way up to Magamba village. When the Germans were in Usambara, the Gaegetal Valley was formerly known as the hunting valley. To reach Magamba village, this trek will continue through this valley and the forest. The route from Magamba to Mkuzi will pass through villages and agricultural areas. Experience local culture and daily routines while traveling. Although we cannot guarantee it, there is a potential to encounter blue colobus monkeys along the route and in the Mkuzi Forest. Enjoy being in the wilderness, you can also swim in a natural swimming pool in the mkuzi forest. Enjoy a picnic meal between the large rocks that surround the swimming area.

You will take either public or private transportation to return to Lushoto after all of these events. (20 USD additional fee for private) a private vehicle is advised because public transportation is often busy.

BIRD WATCHING

Early in the morning, get in the car and head to Kwembago village.Get out of the car and begin strolling over the farmland in search of various bird species. Many birds that consume seeds can be seen here, along with other birds that can be found around people, as well as forest and water birds. Go on to the Magamba rain forest to see the woodland birds.

 

Observe a variety of common and endemic bird species. Here are some of the birds that were discovered: horn bill, sunbird, yellow vented bulbul, cape robin, white browed robin chat, fire fich, bar-throated apalis, batis, hatlaub turaco, and many more.

LUSHOTO LOCAL FOOD COOKING COURSE AND HISTORICAL TOWN TOUR.

Learn about the charm and authenticity of Lushoto town and the surrounding villages. This tour will take you through the streets and village surrounding the town of Lushoto. Your tour guide can tell you about the Wasambaa tribe’s culture and traditions.

While you may still visit Lushoto during the week, the live market on Thursday and Sunday is much more vibrant. Take a stroll around the village. Visit the historic structures and the graveyard. Germans constructed Tanzania’s first police station, which was in Lushoto.

After spending a few hours on a town tour, you will forego the market and purchase the fruits and farm products needed to prepare the dinner. You will also assist in cooking one of the regional delicacies that was recommended by your tour guide. You’ll finish by eating and savoring the beautiful meal you made.
