5 DAYS MOUNT OLDOINYO LENGAI

5 days Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai trek, a genuinely life-changing event is scaling Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai in the remote northern Tanzanian grasslands at night. It’s also an extremely difficult, steep climb that will provide you not only amazing vistas but also a tremendous sense of accomplishment for completing the hardest one-day climb in East Africa!
The climb entails a considerable drop back to the starting point after a rather straight ascent to the crater rim. It is not for the faint of heart because it is an extremely steep climb and rise.

Being a night climb, Ol Doinyo Lengai is likewise rather rare. The only part that is in the light is the descent. This is done to avoid the hottest part of the day, as we’ll explore shortly. The whole event has an added element of adventure by leaving about midnight!

An active volcano which last erupted in 1983 obliterating the surrounding vegetation. It has returned but not to any great extent and no-one is sure when the volcano might erupt again.
A typical itinerary for trekking Lengai includes a 5-day or 14-day Ngorongoro Highland walk and culminates with the midnight ascent to Oldoinyo Lengai. It is possible to climb Lengai without the highland walk as well, however the combination with the highland walk makes the trek even more special.
