Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in southwestern Uganda, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its breathtaking landscapes and incredible biodiversity. Rain is possible at any time of year in Bwindi, but the driest months are typically June and July, offering the most favorable trekking conditions. The wettest periods are from March to May and September to November, when heavy rains can make the trails muddy and more challenging to navigate.

During the rainy seasons (March to May and September to November), a 4WD vehicle is essential for navigating the muddy trails leading to some trailheads.

Most international visitors to Uganda arrive via Entebbe International Airport (EBB), located about 46 kilometers (29 miles) from the capital, Kampala. For a faster and more convenient option, domestic flights from Entebbe or Kajjansi Airfield near Kampala are available to the towns of Kihihi and Kisoro, which are close to Bwindi.

Alternatively, some travelers prefer flying into Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, which is significantly closer to Bwindi than Entebbe.
