Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Start your adventure with an early morning drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the last untouched wildlife havens on Earth. This remarkable reserve is the northern extension of the vast Serengeti ecosystem and is renowned for its abundant wildlife, including the awe-inspiring annual migration of wildebeest, zebras, and the predators that follow them.

As you journey through scenic landscapes, you’ll experience the true essence of Africa’s wilderness. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before heading out for an exciting afternoon game drive. This is your first opportunity to explore the reserve’s diverse wildlife and iconic savannah, making for a memorable start to your safari adventure.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

After a hearty breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive through the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. A packed lunch will be provided for your convenience as you explore this wildlife haven.

Masai Mara is famous for its black-manned lions, but it also boasts a rich variety of resident wildlife. It’s one of the rare places in the world where you can spot all of the Big Five in just one game drive, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinos. The cheetahs here are particularly friendly, often seeking shelter from the sun under vehicles, with some even climbing onto the roof for a better view of their potential prey.

Bird enthusiasts will be thrilled to discover that nearly 500 species have been recorded here, including 16 species of eagles, various hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, and the magnificent Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird in the world. You may also spot an array of colorful sunbirds and other fascinating species during your day in this breathtaking reserve.

Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, we depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, located south of Bogoria in the Great Rift Valley. Known worldwide for its stunning population of flamingos, the lake is alkaline and is considered one of the natural wonders of the world.

Lake Nakuru also serves as a rhino sanctuary, home to over 40 black rhinos and 60 white rhinos, making it one of the most important sites for rhino conservation. While the flamingos remain the main attraction, you may witness up to 2 million flamingos at times, forming a breathtaking pink band along the lake’s shoreline.

We’ll arrive in time for lunch, and in the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a game drive around the park. During the drive, you’ll have the chance to view the rich wildlife that the park is known for, including giraffes, lions, and many other species, all set against the stunning backdrop of the lake.

Day 4: Aberdare National Park

After an early breakfast, we transfer to Aberdare National Park, a scenic journey through Central Kenya’s highlands. Along the way, you’ll pass through lush landscapes of tea and coffee plantations, with a stop at Karatina, where you can experience the vibrant largest open-air market in East Africa.

Once we arrive at Aberdare National Park, you’ll be immersed in its diverse wildlife, which includes elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, colobus monkeys, buffaloes, warthogs, and bushbucks. For wildlife enthusiasts, this park offers rare sightings of elusive creatures such as the giant forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat, and the blue duiker.

Dinner will be served at the campsite or lodge, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by the park’s natural beauty.

Day 5: Samburu National Reserve

After an early breakfast, we embark on a scenic drive to Samburu Game Reserve, known for its stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife. En route, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the beautiful surroundings. Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to an afternoon or evening game drive, offering the opportunity to witness the unique and indigenous wildlife that call this region home.

Samburu Game Reserve is one of the most breathtaking parks in Kenya’s Northern Circuit. It is renowned for its population of African elephants, striking Grevy’s zebras, and the Masai giraffes that roam freely. The reserve also boasts a variety of other wildlife species that thrive in this semi-arid region.

Dinner will be served at your campsite or lodge, where you’ll spend a peaceful night under the stars, surrounded by the natural beauty of Samburu.

Day 6: Samburu National Reserve

Today, you will immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of Samburu National Reserve, spending the entire day exploring its vast, less-visited landscapes. The reserve offers an unparalleled sense of peace, as it is not as crowded as other parks, allowing you to fully enjoy its pristine wilderness.

Samburu is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including the Big Five: elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, and buffaloes. The reserve is also renowned for its unique species like the Gerenuk, Reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebra, and the Somali ostrich. Additionally, you might be lucky to spot the Endangered Wild Dog and the rare Pun cake tortoise.

For bird enthusiasts, the park is a paradise with over 450 species of birds, including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, and Somali ostriches. The Waso Nyiro River is also home to a variety of aquatic species, adding to the diversity of the area.

After a thrilling day of game viewing, you will return to Ashnil Samburu Camp, where you will enjoy a relaxing dinner and overnight stay amidst the sounds of nature.

Day 7: Samburu to Nairobi

Enjoy an early morning game drive in Samburu National Reserve, where you’ll have one last opportunity to observe the park’s incredible wildlife in the soft morning light. Afterward, depart for Nairobi, with a scenic drive back to the city.

You’ll have a lunch stop along the way, and then continue your journey, arriving in Nairobi around 5:00 PM. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your preferred hotel or the airport, concluding your unforgettable 7-day safari.
