Day by Day

Day 1: Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park

Fly from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam this morning. Your safari guide will be waiting for you there. Your driver will pick you up at the airport in Dar es Salaam at around 8:00 a.m. and take you directly to the Nyerere National Park, where you will arrive around noon. After a brief game drive you will drive to your lodge/camp for lunch.

The boat safari will start in the late afternoon. It would be an unforgettable experience to spend your afternoon on a boat safari in the Great Rufiji. Animals such as fish eagles, pied kingfishers, enormous kingfishers, hippos, black and white colobus monkeys, and other creatures converge here to satisfy their thirst. If you’re lucky, you might witness some animal activity as crocodiles use this to pursue their prey.

Once the sun has set, later in the evening you will head back to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight

You will eat breakfast at your camp or lodge this morning before leaving for full day game drive in the Nyerere National Park. We will spend the entire day on wildlife game drives in the Africa’s biggest game reserve looking for animals and birds.

Although you can view the rarest of all the animals, African wild dogs, in addition to the expected sightings of gazelles, giraffes, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, kudus, and zebras.Nyerere National Park formelly known as Selous Game Reserve was given its name in honor of the late Frederick Selous, a well-known European explorer, and eventually became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Approximately the size of Switzerland, the Nyerere National Park is an unspoiled African wilderness with an unusual habitat that includes noteworthy savannah forests, undulating savannah grassland plains, and rocky outcrops that are supposed to have been produced by the Rufiji River in the distant past. Big cats like lion prides and leopards can be found in the Nyerere.

Later in the evening you will head back to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.
