Day by Day

Day 1: Kigali, Rwanda - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you’ll be met by your professional safari guide, who will brief you on the exciting 3-day adventure ahead. With deep knowledge of both Uganda and Rwanda, your guide will ensure a smooth and enriching experience.

Your first stop is the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful and moving tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. This reflective visit will last about 1.5 to 2 hours and offers important context on Rwanda’s history and resilience.

Afterward, begin your scenic transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa” thanks to its rolling hills and stunning countryside. Cross the border and enjoy the changing landscapes, bamboo forests, terraced hills, and distant views of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Upon arrival, you’ll check into Bakiga Lodge or a similar eco-friendly accommodation, perched on a hillside with sweeping forest views. Settle in for a delicious dinner and rest in preparation for the next day’s unforgettable gorilla encounter.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Rise early for a hearty breakfast and get ready for the highlight of your journey, gorilla trekking in the mystical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You’ll be transferred to the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing, where expert rangers will explain the rules, etiquette, and what to expect during your trek.

After the briefing, you’ll set off into the dense jungle with an experienced senior ranger guide, tracking one of the habituated gorilla families. The hike can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, but every step through the forest builds anticipation for what lies ahead.

Once you encounter the gorillas, you’ll have the rare and humbling privilege of spending one full hour with them, observing their interactions, taking photos, and simply soaking in the presence of these majestic primates in their natural habitat. It’s an emotional and awe-inspiring experience that will stay with you forever.

After the trek, return to Bakiga Lodge (or similar) for a well-deserved rest, a warm meal, and time to reflect on your unforgettable day.
