Mount Meru Trekking

3 Days | 2 Nights

From $1,250 / person

Your trip overview

Join us on a thrilling 3-day adventure to the summit of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest peak standing proudly at 4,562 meters. This exhilarating climb follows the scenic Momella Route, the only official trail to the top.

While a 3-day ascent is possible, extending your journey to 4 days is highly recommended for better acclimatization and a more rewarding experience. Many seasoned trekkers even choose Mount Meru as a warm-up climb before conquering Mount Kilimanjaro, thanks to its altitude and stunning terrain.

Unlike Kilimanjaro, a Mount Meru climb begins right inside Arusha National Park, where an armed ranger will accompany you for safety. But this is no ordinary escort, this is your chance to enjoy a true walking safari.

As you hike through lush forest and open plains, you’ll encounter wildlife up close, from grazing herds of African buffalo and zebras to playful black-and-white colobus monkeys. With fewer crowds, rich biodiversity, and breathtaking views, including a dramatic volcanic crater, Mount Meru offers one of the most underrated yet unforgettable trekking experiences in East Africa.
