Day by Day

Day 1: Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park

Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup in Zanzibar, followed by a transfer to the ferry terminal for a comfortable boat ride to Dar es Salaam. From the bustling port city, you’ll board the modern SGR train in business class, heading towards Morogoro, a journey that offers both scenic views and time-saving convenience, cutting nearly 3 hours off traditional travel.

Upon arrival at Morogoro Station, our friendly driver will be waiting to whisk you away on a relaxing drive to Mikumi National Park. Once at Camp Bastian, enjoy a freshly prepared hot lunch, then take some time to rest and soak in the tranquil atmosphere.

In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the rich culture of the region with a visit to a traditional Maasai boma, where you’ll spend approximately 2 hours learning about their customs, lifestyle, and heritage.

Return to Camp Bastian for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay surrounded by nature.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive

Rise early and fuel up with a hearty breakfast before setting out on a thrilling full-day game drive through the vast landscapes of Mikumi National Park. Known for its wide, open plains that resemble the Serengeti, Mikumi offers unparalleled wildlife viewing with excellent visibility, making it easy to spot animals in their natural habitat.

As you traverse the savannah and woodland terrain, keep your eyes peeled for majestic lions, towering elephants, graceful impalas, buffalo herds, giraffes, zebras, and countless other wild species. The park is a photographer’s paradise and a haven for both seasoned safari-goers and first-time visitors.

Midday, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, surrounded by nature and the distant calls of wildlife. Your expert guide will take you to the best spots for game viewing and storytelling throughout the day.
In the evening, return to Camp Bastian Mikumi for a delicious dinner and a peaceful overnight stay under the stars.

Where to stay

Day 3: Mikumi to Zanzibar

After an early breakfast at Camp Bastian, it’s time to begin your return journey. You’ll enjoy a scenic drive back to Morogoro, where you’ll once again board the comfortable SGR train to Dar es Salaam, taking in the beautiful landscapes one last time.

Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you’ll transfer to the ferry terminal and continue your journey across the ocean back to Zanzibar Island. Once you arrive, our driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel for drop-off.
