It is legitimate to say that Kilimanjaro is the pet of trekkers who only dream of pinning their charts. But the cost, duration and the risk of failure may discourage some. And why not the Mt Meru? Its 4562 meters are less glamorous but the peak is accessible, and it will not leave indifferent those who learned its charms.
Located in Arusha National Park, its slopes are home to many animals (giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, elephants, but no big cats), and the trek is accompanied by an armed ranger. The nights are spent in shelters and the trek takes place over four days.
From the top, one has a magnificent view of a small ash crater, with backdrop of the majestic Kilimanjaro. A beautiful trek lined with a rainforest safari, what more do you need?
